Hey kiddo!

Boy, it’s been almost a month since I last wrote you! I’m so sorry!

To be honest, I’ve been taking a little time to breathe! After Love Bites, my first show ever (opening for Carpenter Brut! You can watch it here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib473o_-5-o), and then a followup show, I just needed some time to sit back and take a 10,000 foot view of things. Normally around this time I’d be closing in on my nest release, but all these extracurriculars have been keeping me away from that. And even when I do have the chance to sit down and write, I’ve been struggling with some serious writer’s block.

But there’s good news on the horizon! I’ll be opening for TWRP in June! All you Atlanta people, be sure to come out for that one! It’s going to be a heck of a fun time! All ages, so you can bring the grandkids!

Speaking of that show, I’m currently stressing out way too hard over the set list. I want to mix up the songs I’m playing, but picking the right ones has been a real chore! I’m actually writing this very letter as a way to avoid making decisions. Hooray!

I’m trying to get on the Perturbator show in September, but so far it looks like he’s not looking for any local support acts. We’ll have to see how that one plays out. Hey kiddo!

It’s been a little bit, no? Unlife has been pretty hectic lately! I finally got my second and third performances behind me, and now I’m trying to just slow down for a bit and maybe make some new music (what a novel idea, huh?)

Last time we spoke I mentioned the VSD keychains (https://vampirestepdad.com/product/logo-keychain/), which are on their way to me now, so I hope to have them shipped out next week maybe? We’ll see. I’ll keep you up to date!

My second performance, at the Drunken Unicorn, here in Atlanta, had some technical difficulties that made things…well, it made for an interesting end to the show. If you’ve not seen it, you can check that here:

Also, I’m doing a stupid little “contest” to help stroke my own ego. Facebook lets people “review” Pages. So I’m going to give a free cassette (or CD) of Love Bites to whoever comes up with the funniest / stupidest review of my page by April 21st (Friday). But enough of that stuff. I really wanted to write to you guys to brag about YOU.

With the Carpenter Brut show in the past, and Love Bites out long enough to have sown it’s oats, it’s come back to the time when I just need to sit down and make some new music. This time is always filled with plenty of self-doubt and anxiety that my best work is in the past. Impostor-syndrome-style thoughts like “This is when they figure out I have no idea what I’m doing and it’s all been a sham!” You know…just the regular day to day stuff.

But, thanks to my wonderful family, I have a great fallback in those times.

You see, as you guys post images on the various social media about getting your cassettes, or shirts, or stickers, or whatever else, I’ve been collected those things, and saving them. That’s right, I’ve put together a Vampire Step-Dad Family Photo Album. So any time I need a reminder of what this is all for, I give it a look over. Seeing all your shining faces..You make me so proud!

I also have a second album that’s very special to me. It’s devoted to Vampire Step-Dad-inspired art. I can’t tell you how humbling it is to know that something I’ve done has inspired others to exercise their creative abilities.
